I was honored to join Operation Walk Chicago in a medical mission to Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City during the last week of May 2019 to perform more than 45 hip and knee replacement surgeries. The team consisted of some 40 physicians, nurses, physical therapists, translators and other volunteers from the Chicago area and elsewhere throughout the U.S. They worked closely with the Hospital 175 clinical staff to not only perform the operations for people who otherwise might not have been able to receive them, but to help train local surgical teams on best practices for these procedures.
I shot and edited all of these videos on-site in very much a "run & gun" style and posted them just about daily. The 5th & final video from Day 7 was edited upon my return to Chicago. This was an exhilarating experience as I got to capture the tireless efforts of the team to provide the best care possible in a short period of time. I look forward to joining Operation Walk Chicago again some time in the future!
